Dry Eye Clinic
We are delighted to announce the start of our new dedicated Dry Eye Clinic.
Research shows that approximately 1 in 5 people will suffer from dry eye syndrome at some point in their lives. For many peolpe this will show itself by their eyes feeling itchy or gritty when they wake up in the morning, others will feel their eyes sting especially when doing intensive close work tasks such as computer work or when reading. In some patients their dry eye can cause visual problems which is often wrongly blamed on needing new or updated spectacles.
The good news is that nearly all cases of dry eye can be managed successfully once the condition is diagnosed and a management plan is followed. In many cases this just means using the ‘right kind’ of drops for the ‘right kind’ of dry eye (because there can be many different types). Other treatments could include the use of hot compresses placed on the eye to help increase the flow of tears or in some more severe cases we can even use ‘plugs’ to partially block the drainage of tears from your eyes to help the tears you do produce stay in your eye longer.
In our clinic we have the equipment and expertise to examine your eyes fully and determine the cause of your symptoms and then advise a plan to help solve the problem.
If you wish to attend our dry eye clinic then please contact us and we can arrange an appointment for you.
